Privacy policy

Last updated: 2026-09-25

This policy describes how privatellm.au handles personal information when you use this website. Operator: Farming Domains / Ian Piggott (ABN 66 786 225 704).

This policy is about this website. It is not a privacy program for your own private LLM deployment, and it is not legal advice. Nothing on this site is legal, security, privacy, cybersecurity, financial, investment, tax, accounting, medical, clinical, or other professional advice. Mentions of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), Australian Privacy Principles (including APP 8 cross-border disclosure), data sovereignty, “compliance”, or industry use cases are high-level educational orientation only. They are not a gap assessment, not a certification, and not a substitute for qualified counsel, your organisation’s policies, or a security review.

1. Who we are

This website is operated as part of the Farming Domains / Ian Piggott portfolio of independent educational sites. Contact details appear on the Contact page. Australian Business Number (ABN) appears on About, Privacy, and Terms where entity identification is appropriate — not in the site-wide footer.

Contact for privacy questions: use the Contact page (address image, anti-spam).

2. What this site is

An independent educational resource about private and local LLMs. You do not need an account to read the guides. We do not sell user accounts or a hosted private model product on this domain. This website does not run a language model on the prompts you type into these pages.

3. Information we may collect

4. Why we use information

5. Legal bases / APP-oriented notes (high level)

Where the Australian Privacy Principles are relevant to this small website operation, we aim to collect only what we need for the purposes above, keep it reasonably secure in line with ordinary hosting practice, and not sell personal information as a product. This paragraph is orientation, not a formal APP compliance statement for every activity you might undertake with private AI tools.

6. Overseas disclosure

Hosting, CDN, analytics, email, or affiliate infrastructure may process technical or enquiry data outside Australia (for example US-based processors). If that occurs, overseas privacy laws may differ. We aim to minimise collection. Clicking through to Amazon or other overseas retailers is under their privacy notices.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

You can block third-party cookies in your browser; some features of third-party sites may break.

8. Retention

Server logs are retained according to host defaults or our operational needs (typically short-to-medium term for security). Emails you send may be retained as long as needed to respond and keep a reasonable business record, then deleted or archived according to ordinary practice. You may ask us to delete enquiry emails where practical and lawful.

9. Security

We use ordinary safeguards appropriate to a static informational site (HTTPS when configured on the host, limited access to mailboxes). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure. You are responsible for the security of any private LLM system you run.

10. Your choices and requests

If you have a complaint about privacy handling on this site, contact us first. You may also have rights to contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) for matters within their remit.

11. Children

This site is aimed at adults and organisations exploring technology topics. It is not directed at children. Do not submit personal information about children via contact channels.

12. Changes

We may update this policy by posting a new version here and updating the date above. Material changes will be reflected on this page.
